Background
|
The Syracuse Medical Imaging Research Group emerged from
interdisciplinary collaboration of researchers from
SUNY Upstate Medical
University (Department of Radiology) and
Syracuse University
(Department of Physics, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer
Science). Our research aims at developing new tools for advanced processing
of medical and biological images. The group's research is oriented in the
following areas:
- Advancement of mathematical theory and computer algorithms for medical
image reconstruction and for the three-dimensional analysis of
multidimensional, multiparametric, multimodality image data.
- Development of software systems for tomographic reconstruction and for
analysis of medical image data.
- Usage of the medical image data for improved diagnosis, treatment,
understanding and education of abnormalities in internal structures and in
their function.
